Calamity Flamtet (Album Release)
In November of 2012, Robert Dicke began hosting a weekly jam session at The Tonic Room in Chicago. The house band began as a rotating cast but very quickly found it’s core members— guitarist Jared Rabin, bassist Dan Kristan, keyboardist Carl Kennedy, and of course Robert Dicke behind the drums— the Calamity Flamtet was born. The sound of the band is the ever elusive fusion of Jazz, Funk, and Rock. There is a fine wave that the band attempts to ride by including elements from these genres, while maintaining the essence of each. By the time Dicke’s Jam Session came to a close at the end of 2014, the group had developed a cohesiveness that was undeniable and that would be unfair to keep from the general public. A decision was made to document this original music and give the band a chance to thrive in other clubs and musical circles. Dicke was able to obtain a grant from the Luminarts Cultural Foundation that made it possible for them to record nine of his original compositions. The debut album “Class” is a bit of a play on words. The Tonic Room is located just a half block from DePaul University School of Music, where the group met and where Dicke was completing his Masters Degree while running the jam session. The album will be released at the end of August and the saga will continue.
Local Motive performances are filled with lyrical messages, irresistible soulful melodies, and the spirit of the old-school rhythm & blues. Joy emanates from the stage when this talented collective of musicians plays their blend of classic soul, Motown, funk, & old-fashioned rock 'n' roll.
Influences of soul legends like Ray Charles & Sam Cooke are obvious when bandleader, Mike Vinopal, sings from his toes, as are contemporary influences like The Black Keys & Gary Clark Jr. Sweet brass lines from the Local Motive horns & grooving guitars from the Vinopal cousins create a huge sound, filled with hooks you'll be whistling in the morning.
A hot blender of musical influences and electrified sounds. Chicago’s Deep Fayed strays from the expected, and with their high energy grooves, ‘Fayed seamlessly combines genres with a dose of heavy hip-hop beats. Chicago rapper D2G takes the mic as the band’s MC, alongside Catherine Poulos on lead vocals. Poetic lyrics, conscious themes and powerful vocals bring an added intensity to every arrangement and performance. Members of Deep Fayed have toured the U.S. and Europe and have shared the stage with ?Questlove, Pete Rock, Slum Village, The Wailers and Lupe Fiasco. The rhythm section is George Wundsam (guitar), Matt Wilson (bass), Chresten Hyde (drums), Cole DeGenova (keys)
Deep Fayed release their new single Waves (feat. R.O.E.) available now to stream at Soundcloud. They are working on a new full length album due out in 2017.

Deep Fayed released their debut, six-song EP, Deep Fayed, in 2013. The album features rapper and poet, Lawrence “Binkey” Tolefree, acclaimed jazz drummer, Makaya McCraven, as well as other well known musicians ann the scene. In their debut release the groove based group brings to the listener gritty, “urban-anthemic” songs that hit deep into the soul with a fearless, vastly layered soundscape of delicious ear candy.
