This is NOT your traditional chamber music. We are an R&B/Soul/Pop cover band based out of Indianapolis, IN.
Is Chamber Music an inside joke, or a “soul supergroup”? The answer is “both!”
Chamber Music is not your grandfather's traditional chamber band. The band formed in late 2014, through the band members’ association with the 126-year-old Indy Chamber of Commerce (hence the name), and around a shared love of Motown, Stax, 70’s/80’s/90’s and contemporary soul, pop, and R&B music; music that unifies people regardless of age, race, gender, etc.
What started out as a novelty act soon became an in-demand cover band. Chamber Music has been honored to play some of Indianapolis’ most iconic stages, including the HI-FI, the Scottish Rite Cathedral, the Indiana Roof Ballroom, Monument Circle, Tonic Ball at the White Rabbit Cabaret, and they were the first-ever band to perform a concert at the Sky Farm at Eskenazi Hospital.
While “soul supergroup” is an ostentatious term, it’s true that the members of Chamber Music have been at this for a while, as veterans of many other bands, including Liquid Groove, Flatbed Twitch, Alligator Brothers, The Population, and the Indiana University Soul Revue, to name a few. They enjoy putting their chops and improvisational skills to use by reinterpreting classic and new-classic songs from some of their favorite artists including Marvin Gaye, Gladys Knight, Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan, Prince, and many others. As John Ketzenberger wrote in his Indianapolis Star profile of the band, “…they are serious musicians with chops…displaying a fluidity that comes only from experience.”
