Dan is a Minneapolis-based Vocalist, Bassists and Educator - he has his own Jazz project with his father Reuben, and his own Funk, soul band, The Big Throwdown, performing everymonth in the Twin Cities! Dan is currently on tour with Rhythmic Circus Productions: "Feet Don't Fail Me Now!"
Dan Ristrom, born in Minneapolis, MN, son to Jazz Guitar player, Reuben Ristrom and Diane Ristrom, a music teacher, church choir director and organist. Surrounded by musicians and performers, Dan was nurtured into a lifestyle of music and entertaining. He received his Bachelors in Music Education with a Vocal emphasis from the University of MN - Duluth and moved back to Minneapolis to teach classroom music but found himself performing music instead. Growing up singing and playing bass in the church, and singing at Jazz clubs and festivals nation-wide, Dan is now leading his own bands from Soul, R & B, Funk, Rock & Roll, to Jazz and Gospel, and still often working with his family, (including brothers Andrew on drums and Matt on Guitar). Nationally and globally, Dan has performed with many professional musicians, playing bass and singing all genres of music. Working with Gospel singer Robert Robinson, Jazz singer Debbie Duncan, to Prince's band Michael Bland and Tommy Barbarella. Dan is taking his talents world-wide, both with his original music and with other projects!
Reuben Ristrom’s several decades of experience include night clubs, jazz festivals, concerts, shows, recording sessions, strolling ensembles, solo guitar or banjo, wedding music, funerals (incl. Jazz funerals) leading sing-alongs and more…
His styles include: Dixieland, mainstream jazz, swing, standards, latin, as well as a dose of vintage rock ‘n’ roll.
A Twin Cities native and U of M graduate with 50 years in the music business, Reuben has worked concerts, shows and jazz festivals throughout the continental US and Hawaii, gigging with the best local musicians and many national ‘name’ artists.
