Guitarist Harold "FRO" Davis plays eclectic instrumental music, which draws from jazz, metal, funk and other idioms.
Davis, who sports the hairstyle that he's named after, began writing and performing his own music in 1995 and has had several bands over the years. The former Brooklyn, NY resident who moved to Iowa a year ago, found a new rhythm section and began playing gigs in the Des Moines area within three months. He also did guitar fill-in performances with notable Iowa musicians Scot Sutherland and Bonne Finken.
FRO has released three self-produced albums: "On Your Mark, Get Set, FRO!" in 2001, "The Paisley Album" in 2002 and "Surprise Music" in 2009. He has also played shows with very diverse national acts including Tower Of Power, Screaming Headless Torsos, Toots and the Maytals and Alex Skolnick of Testament.
Besides fronting his own band, he has played guitar with Dead Prez, Bazaar Royale, Mental Notes, Etro Anime, Toni Blackman and others while in New York. He also toured the U.S. with Bazaar Royale, opening for DMX in 2007. He additionally has a rock/metal duo called, Ambiguity. The duo released an album called, "Strum & Drum" in 2014.
