80/35 First Lineup Announcement
The ninth annual 80/35 music festival in downtown Des Moines’ Western Gateway Park on Friday and Saturday, July 8 and 9, 2016, releases 30 acts slotted to perform, including headliners Nas and The Decemberists. Additional bands will be announced in May to complete the nearly 50-act, three-stage lineup.
New York hip-hop legend Nas and indie folk veterans The Decemberists will headline. The 2016 festival also features electronic jam band Lotus, recently reunited Canadian indie rockers Wolf Parade and Atlanta punk rockers The Black Lips. Eclectic San Francisco pop group Thao & The Get Down Stay Down; Minneapolis queen of pop and hip-hop Lizzo; The Jeff Austin Band, featuring the former Yonder Mountain String Band leader; and the poetic storyteller of The Hold Steady, Craig Finn, round out top of the bill.
More than 30,000 people will gather in the heart of downtown Des Moines to experience two full days of music with nearly 50 acts on three stages. Fans can also enjoy the Lagunitas Couchtrippin’ Lounge —the only place to feature many delicious Lagunitas beers — plus an assortment of mixed drinks and wine. Attendees can purchase a Lounge wristband for $15.
Advance two-day tickets are on sale now for $65 and one-day tickets for $42 at midwestix.com. VIP tickets are sold out. Day-of tickets will sell for $90 for a two-day and $50 for a one-day.
